Not financial advice

Nothing on FinanceCalc is financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. The calculators apply standard formulas to the figures you enter. They do not consider your income stability, your other debts, your risk tolerance, your tax position, your family situation, or anything else that a real adviser would ask about before giving an opinion.

No relationship of adviser and client is created by using this site. If you need a decision made for your circumstances, consult a licensed professional: a fee-only financial planner for investments and retirement, an enrolled agent or CPA for taxes, a HUD-approved housing counsellor for mortgage trouble, or a bankruptcy attorney for unmanageable debt.

Estimates, not quotes

A calculator result is an estimate, not an offer. Lenders will quote you a rate that depends on your credit profile, the property, the term, points, fees and the day. Investment returns are uncertain and past returns do not predict future ones. Tax rules depend on your filing status, residency, income and the year.

Where a page uses an assumed figure — an average rate, a typical fee, an inflation assumption — the page says so. Treat those figures as illustrations, not as forecasts.

Assumptions have limits

Every calculator on this site names the assumptions it makes and the factors it ignores. Those sections are not boilerplate. A mortgage calculation that ignores escrow reassessment, a retirement projection that ignores sequence-of-returns risk, or a debt payoff that assumes a constant interest rate can each produce a number that looks precise and is wrong for your situation. Read the limitations before you rely on the result.
