Editorial Policy
Who writes the content, what it is checked against, and how it gets fixed when it is wrong.
This page describes how the content on FinanceCalc is produced. It applies to every calculator page, guide and policy page on the site.
Who writes and edits
All content is written and edited by Hutu Laurentiu, the site's founder. There is no outsourced content team and no anonymous byline. Every page goes through one editor, which means one person is accountable for what it says. The author's background and role are on the author page.
What each page must contain
- The formula. Calculator pages print the equation used, define each variable, and show a worked example whose numbers you can reproduce.
- The assumptions. A section naming what the tool ignores or simplifies, and what that means for the result.
- Primary sources. Each page links the authoritative source its rules come from โ CFPB, IRS, Investor.gov, Social Security Administration, or Federal Reserve.
- A date. Pages carry a last-updated date. Pages that depend on annual figures are revisited when those figures are announced.
Sourcing standards
Figures come from primary sources wherever one exists. Government agencies and regulators take precedence over secondary commentary; secondary sources are used only where no primary source defines the figure, and are named. We do not cite other calculator sites.
Where a number is an assumption rather than a published fact โ a typical mortgage rate, an assumed market return โ the page says so explicitly and gives a range where one is meaningful. We would rather write "typically 6% to 8%" than invent a precise figure that looks authoritative.
Review and update cycle
Tax brackets, contribution limits, benefit rules and rates change annually, so pages tied to those figures are reviewed when the relevant authority publishes the new values. Other pages are reviewed at least once a year. The last-updated date changes only when the page content actually changes.
Corrections
Errors are corrected as soon as they are verified, and verification means reproducing the wrong output from the page's own inputs. When a substantive correction is made, the page notes what changed. Send corrections to reportpilot.team@gmail.com with the page address, the inputs you used and what you expected.
Independence and disclosure
The site is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers have no input into editorial content, and no page is written to favour an advertiser. There are currently no affiliate links on the site; if affiliate links are ever added, the page containing them will carry a disclosure above the link, and they will never appear inside calculator results.
Use of automation
Calculators compute results in code, and the underlying page content is drafted and edited by the author. Every published page is reviewed by the editor before publication, and arithmetic on the page is checked against the calculator itself. Automation does not decide what a page claims.
Not advice
Editorial content explains how financial mechanics work. It does not tell you what to do. See the disclaimer.
